Zachary Lawrence Johnson, 32,  was born in Merrillville, Indiana on  October 18th 1985. He passed away in his sleep in his Indianapolis home on November 12, 2017.
Musically gifted, he began taking lessons to play drums before the age of 10. His mother and I placed his drum kit in the basement, and would often have to remove items from the upstairs shelves so they would not vibrate off. The name of his first band in high school was named “Skin Deep”, and over 100 CD.s were sold, which included  music he wrote, and cover artwork from donated by his friends. His later band “Krum” was extremely popular in the Indianapolis, IN. area.
Upon moving to the Indianapolis area in 2005 to be near his father, he shared an apartment with his step-brother Patrick.
Zachary enjoyed watching football and listening to music with family. Special memories include visiting the “Football Hall of Fame” in Canton, Ohio and having our pictures taken with Chicago bears memorabilia. Sharing musical interests, Zachary and his father often used the internet to share information about musical artists and songs.
Zachary worked construction on the Colts, Lucas Oil Stadium while  he was an apprentice to the Carpenters Union. Due to an accidental fall at the job site, he injured his back and suffered a disabling chronic back injury.
Zachary was an successful entrepreneur, and he opened his own business “Johnson and Son’s Transport”, moving new furniture for several furniture stores in the Indianapolis area that lasted for several years. During his ownership of that business, he was able to provide job opportunities for dozens of people, many of which have since opened their own like businesses and credit Zachary for their success. Most recently he worked for Black Horse Carriers with his step-brother Scott.  He drove over the road, and also trained other drivers to open new routes.
Zachary is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Earl and Betty Johnson. He is survived by his partner Veronica, and his son’s Benjamin, Vincent and Jackson. He is also survived by his father Larry, step mother Ann, step-brothers Scott (Candice) Bright, Patrick (Emily) Lakins, and Leslie (Jody) Johnson.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, November 19, 2017 starting at 3pm with visitation starting at 1pm at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W. Moore Chapel.  8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, In 46250.

So sorry for two separate obituary pages.
My ex-wife and daughters could not set aside contention to honor Zachary’s memory, and would not allow a unified obituary that mentioned everyone. They also would not allow me to mention that they were part of the same family.
I honor Zachary now by mentioning that my complete family members include: Zachary’s biological mother Roxanne, his sisters (my daughters) Ursula, and Hayley, and his half-brother (whom I adopted) Derek.
I honor and respect them, and wish all the family the best through this grieving process.
Indiana Funeral Care has been very professional, and I sincerely thank them for this opportunity.

My deepest of condolences on your loss! Though I only met Zach once, it made a lasting impression. He struck me as a very fine young man, who came from good stock. It breaks my heart to hear of this, and wish to send the family heart felt prayers to help during this time.

    Dear Son,
I am so proud to be your father, and am so grieved by your loss.
You are so loved and respected by all who have known you that I am constantly receiving messages and calls to express that sentiment.
You were a peace maker, a kind, forgiving, and loving spirit. A hard worker, loving father, wonderful son, sibling, partner…..you name it.
A son normally aspires to be like his father, but my Zachary set the bar pretty high.
Your sons will read this when they are older, and they will know what a great man you were.
I love you so much son.

To the family, my sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. May you find comfort in the knowledge that “there is going to be a resurrection,” as the Bible confirms at Acts 24:15. “Do not be amazed at this,” Jesus assures us, “for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” (John 5:28,29) By meditating on God’s promises found in the Bible, may you find real hope and the strength to keep going. (1 Th 4:13,14) My deepest sympathy.

I will always admire Zach’s love for family. When my dad his grandfather was passing …he and his dad -my brother drove down to Florida to offer his support. The time we all spent at Gators Joe’s will be a memorial memory …for one reason -I was able to have a one on one conversation , exposing his loving heart. I loved seeing his post with his son and I shared his love for guitars. Zach will be remembered and missed ….uncle Gary

My heart aches for Veronica and the Johnson family to lose in death your precious loved one. Zach, way too soon. Words are so limited that can give comfort, so I would like to share with you beautiful scripture where our heavenly Father, Jehovah (Psalm 83:18) invites you to throw all your burdens on him and he will sustain you in your time of grief. Psalm 34:18
None of us are guaranteed tomorrow, but we are all guaranteed a resurrection.
Our savior, Jesus, promises us at: John 6: 40; “For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who recognizes the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day”.
And again at: John 5: 28; “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out…”
And at: John 11:23-25; “Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life.” The one who exercises faith in me, even tho he dies, will come to life.”
I pray that Jesus’s promises to reunite us with our loved ones on resurrection day will carry you through the difficult days ahead and gradually replace your tears of grief with tears of joy as you reflect on your precious memories of happier times with Zach.
For more comforting scriptures please visit: http://bit.ly/1K38EFt. It has given me hope, strengthened my faith and helped me find the answer to Why? I know it will do the same for you. John 17:3
I pray it will bring you comfort to please watch this beautiful video (song 144) entitled “Keep Your Eyes on the Prize” https://tv.jw.org/#en/video/VODChildren/pub-pksn_24_VIDEO
