
Warner “Boogie” Johnson, 64, of Indianapolis, passed away on April 8, 2017. He was born on March 9, 1953, in Indianapolis to the late Harold and Katherine (Ford) Johnson. Being the baby of the family he was deeply loved and was known as a free-spirited child with a lot of energy.
He was a graduate of North Central High School. Warner was quick on his feet and loved boxing and playing basketball. He had a creative side about him too, and he loved painting, building model cars, and was very passionate about being a barber. He truly treasured being a barber and he loved competing in hair shows.
He leaves to carry on his legacy his wife Katherine Johnson; children Donnell Johnson, Shalonda (Latham) Gladney and Adrian Turner; siblings, Carolyn Alexander and Anthony L. Johnson; step-mother, Ida Johnson and a host of grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by: his mother Katherine Ford Johnson; father Harold Johnson; his brother John “Pete” Johnson; and sisters Lola A. Payne and Beverly Gene Ellis.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Indiana Funeral Care; Harry W. Moore Chapel at 3 pm. Friends may visit with the family from 1 pm until the service time of 3. A repast will follow immediately after.
