Walter L. Sanders was born November 21, 1927 in Brookville, MS.  He was the second sibling of thirteen to Jim and Alma Sanders.

WAlter attended the Brookville School System when he wasn’t working to support the family.

At the age of 22, Walter relocated to Birmingham, AL, to pursue job opportunities and later relocated to Indianapolis, IN, where he accepted a job at International Harvester for about 40 years and then retired.  He was a Union Member of Local 226.

Walter was a member of Oasis of Hope Baptist Church where he worked faithfully in the ministry.  In addition, he was a member of the church bowling league.

Walter was united in holy matrimony to Berdia Robinson on November 25, 1983.  Walter was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Walter was a responsible and family-oriented person.  He enjoyed preparing bar-be-que dinners for family gatherings.  He also enjoyed traveling, watching westerns, and relaxing on the porch.  Walter will be missed, but we know that God does not make mistakes.

Walter leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife of 32 years, Berdia; daughter, Yvonne; children by marriage, DArlene, Teresa, Kellie, Anthony, and Tyrone; siblings, Johnnie (Jennie), Albert (Eunice), Sammie (Mary), Willie, Lottie, Lillian (Victor); 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Services were held Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Church of Glory.  Friends and family called from 10:00 a.m. until noon.  Services began at noon.  Burial followed at Washington Park North Cemetery.
