Virginia Luise (Derrickson) Whyte, 81, of Indianapolis died on January 31, 2016, at Golden Living Nursing Home, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. She was born August 16, 1934, in Ft Wayne, IN, the daughter of Amos Derrickson and Virginia Luise (Porter) Derrickson.
She was united in marriage on September 3, 1954, to Jack Walker Whyte, of Pierre, SD. She was married to Jack for 25 wonderful years, before his passing to cancer, in 1980. She later married California attorney, Charles Tucker, who subsequently passed in 1997. Virginia loved her family with all her heart. She cherished her amazing relationship with her three granddaughters, loved the out doors, could remember every lyric to cheery 1940’s songs (and sang them regularly!), and was an avid animal lover. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved to laugh.
Virginia is survived by her two daughters, Diana (Whyte) Colby, Annette Whyte, and daughter-in-law Marti Greenwald-Whyte. And, granddaughters Amy (Colby) McClean, Robyn Colby, Taryn Colby, and grandson-in-law Joe McClean. As well as her beloved great grandchildren Kieran McClean, Caiden McClean, and Brennan McClean.
Cremation will be performed by Indiana Funeral Care. With a burial, beside her husband Jack, at Lindenwood Cemetary in Ft Wayne, this spring.
