In Loving Memory

Vicki Diane Evans age 57 passed away after a year battle with cancer on March 3rd 2017. She is survived by her husband Robert Evans, her daughter Tondalaya Brainard and son-in-law Travis Brainard, her daughter Crystal Vandiver, her brother Jerry Haskins, and six grandchildren: Caitlynn Minton, Alexis Hewitt, Jacob Vandiver, Jaylee Vandiver, Erik Brainard and Adam Brainard, her step daughter Jennifer Berg, dearest friends Julie Johnson and Carol Holford, and 4 dogs: Thor, Noel, Augie Doggie, and Doggy Dew.

Vicki was born in Quincy, Illinois to Dorothy D. (Meyers) Vandiver and Roy Haskins on March 23, 1959. She was a medical administrator and volunteered at the C.A.F.É. Senior Center for many years. Vicki was also a selfless caregiver to her mother and brother for 15 years. She lived in Peoria, IL before moving to Indianapolis, Indiana 20 years ago.

She is proceeded in death by her step father Charles Vandiver, her mother Dorothy D. Vandiver, her brothers Wesley Shoup and Darold Haskins.

Vicki will be remembered for her strength and selflessness. She never met a stranger. Bargain hunting, morel stalking, fun loving, colorful ray of light. A fiercely independent woman she was a force to be reckoned with.  She loved her family and friends with an unwavering devotion and was generous to a fault. Outspoken with an honesty that is a rare commodity, she would give her opinion unfiltered. Her passing has left a void in our hearts that will never be filled.

A memory celebration will be held at 5916 Lieber Road, Indianapolis, Indiana on March 25th from 1 – 6pm. Feel free to celebrate during this time even of you are unable to attend. Please respond on Facebook events if you plan to attend.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to American Cancer Society.

~ Adam: “Grandma, I love you to da moon.” Vicki: “Adam I Love you to the moon and sun and back.” Adam: “Whoa grandma that is muuuch much further!” (one of the last conversations with Adam Brainard)

~ “Deadpool beat cancer and you’re as strong as a superhero grandma, if he can do it you can do it.” (Jacob Vandiver)

~ “It’s harder for the ones left behind, right grandma?” (Jacob Vandiver)

My deepest and sincere condolence to the family and dearest freind of Vicky. She will be missed I had the pleasure of knowing her for a short while but she will be forever remembered. She was a very giving ,woman there was nothing she would not share or give. She truly knew how to be a freind. She loved her family unconditionally. You will be missed. We look forward to the promise in Rev 21: 3,4. When we will not have to mourn our love ones because this will be removed.
