Thelma, know as Jean, passed at her home on the evening of June 25, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones.

Jean was born on October 17, 1937 in Tennessee as one of ten children to Lester Harold Linville and Leona Frances Linville.  The family moved to Indianapolis when Jean was a teenager.

Jean pursued her love of cooking and baking, owning and running the Spiceland Café for five years.  Jean was a skilled seamstress and was employed for more than forty years. She began her career at Arrow Draperies, but spent the last thirty years working along side her son at T & H Upholstery.

Jean loved to cook and bake, travel, and spend time with her family and friends.  She was a sports fanatic, cheering on the Colts, Pacers and Cincinnati Reds.  The last years of her life were spent with her greatest loves, her great grandchildren.

Jean was a surrogate parent and grandparent to many over the years. She touched so may lives and was adored by all that knew her.

Her parents and several siblings as well as her children, Tammie Marie Hatfield and Steven Paul Haynie, preceded Jean in death. She is survived by her siblings Donald (Wanda) Linville, Mary Harmon, Lillie (Dallas) McQuary and Rebecca (Lesley) Mumford. Her surviving children include Carl Lee Haynie of Arkansas and Thomas Harold Haynie of Indianapolis. Additionally, she is survived by her grandchildren Shannon (Jeremy) Ruschhaupt, Amanda (Zack) McGaughey, Amber Hatfield, Courtney (Steven) Wells, Melissa Haynie, Brittany (Brandon) Sluder and her three great grandchildren, Willow, Lucas and Sophia.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.

The family requests in lue of flowers donations be made in her name to St. Vincent Hospice.

I love you more than I could ever express. You are my family; not by blood..but by choice…you accepted me into your life and made me feel loved and taken care of. Made me laugh and forget my worries. You are an amazing woman full of joy and always knew what to say when I didn’t have the answers. Thank you for being you and sharing yourself, your home, and your baked goods and meals with my son and I. Thank you for teaching me what’s important in life and talking me off the ledge at times. You will be greatly missed but also immensely remembered as a cherished person I looked up to. Loving you today and forever.
