Stephen C. Hermsen, Jr., 55, passed away in the early morning hours of November 3, 2015. Stephen was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 20, 1960 to Judy C. (Stillwell) and Stephen C. Hermsen, Sr.
Stephen attended school at IPS Schools 79, 61 and Northwest High School. Stephen left school in 1976 when he began working for Dolence Heating and Cooling.
After many years spent in the Heating and Cooling industry, Stephen began working as a maintenance technician for various apartment complexes.
Stephen married Rebecca Alexander in 1982, just days prior to his father’s death. Stephen and Becky welcomed their only child, Thera Michelle, on April 12, 1983. Stephen and his family lived in Valdosta, Georgia for several years, before returning to Indianapolis. Stephen and Becky later divorced and Stephen never remarried.
Stephen enjoyed working on his Uncle George Sutton’s race car at the Speedrome, on Indianapolis’ Eastside, and traveling to Daytona, Florida for racing with his uncles and fellow crew members.
Stephen was a former member of the SAL at the American Legion, Post 500.
Stephen was diagnosed with head and neck cancer in early 2013. Stephen fought a good fight until the end.
Stephen was proceeded in death by his father, in 1982. His is survived by his daughter Thera Michelle, mother Judy C. Hermsen, sister Marjorie E. Cullivan, brother Paul E. Hermsen, niece Christa L. Cullivan and great niece Chloe R. Bishop.
Stephen will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
