Shirley Nelson, 89, passed away on December 10, 2016. She was born on August 11, 1927 in Plymouth, IN to Michael L. and Corinne Burke. Widow of Robert J. Nelson, she is survived by her children, Ann Hartman, Bill Nelson, Mary (Jim) Sweeney, and Dan (Holly) Nelson; seven grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, Patrick Nelson.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Drive, on Friday, December 16 at 11 a.m., with a lunch reception to follow.

My deepest sympathy goes to all of Shirley’s family. I only knew her for a short while, but always enjoyed her humor and welcoming smile when we played bridge with the St. Pius group. I will miss her good-natured presence at the bridge table.
