Sharon Anders (Hodge) Sweet, 73, of Fishers, IN, passed away Jan. 16, 2017 in Noblesville. She had been battling a malignant brain tumor with radiation and chemo, suffered a stroke, and various other side effects. She passed away calmly, completely at rest, and without pain, with her husband, Jim, by her side. She was born Oct. 2, 1943 in Oak Park, IL to the late Richard Anders and Alice Flett Hodge.
Sharon and Jim Sweet were married June 10, 1973 and they lived in the Chicago area until retirement in 2009, when they moved to Britton Falls, a community in Fishers Indiana, to be closer to their children and grand-children, all of which she truly loved and was devoted to. She never missed a “Grandparent Day”, school events or concerts.
Sharon enjoyed going on cruises and vacations with Jim and especially going to Alaska and the Caribbean. Recent trips to Slovenia and Scotland for genealogy research were highlights for the two of them. She enjoyed playing golf, pickleball, and taking long walks with Jim. Sharon was very active with her 1961 Glenbard West HS graduation class (“Forever Loyal Be”) reunions and remained friends with many of them. She was very proud that she achieved her Associate’s Degree in Applied Science for Accounting from W.R. Harper College in 1990, “Yea Mom!” She worked in that field until retirement.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Jim; her children; Sheryl (Matt) Hurst, Jack Dreher, and Jenny (Patrick) Stevens; her grand-children Timothy, Emily, Ashlynn, and Harmony; her brother Charlie (Sue) Hodge; her sister Joan (Roy) Roberson; several cousins, nephews, and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
No flowers – Donations to find a cure for cancer would be appreciated.
