
Scott Winston Howard, 58, of Indianapolis died at 2 pm Sunday, May 3rd, 2015 at IU Hospital. He was born in Huntington, IN December 6th, 1956, to Jack and Willodean (Brock) Howard.
On June 25th, 2014 he legally married his partner of 17 years, Steven Ulrey. They were the 15th gay couple to legally marry in Indiana.
Scott was currently employed at English Ivy’s Pub in Indianapolis. He spent the majority of his professional life as Executive Director for Training Inc., of Indianapolis and he opened an office for them in New Orleans, LA.
Scott was a long time member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Indianapolis, IN. He served his church in many ways but enjoyed being healing minister but his ministry reached outside the doors of the church and was always willing to help out a fellow AA member is Crisis or being a group counsel for HIV/AIDS survivors. He also loved to travel and his puppies.
He is survived by his husband Steven Ulrey of Indianapolis, IN; one sister Kerry (Robert) Highley of Sweetser, IN and one brother Brett (JJ) Howard of Bellview, FL; one sister-in-law Jo Beth (Steve) Swisher: 6 nieces and 5 nephews and 12 great-nieces and nephews. One sister is deceased Beth (Reece) Peacock.
Family and friends may call on Friday, May 15, 2015, from 5 to 7 pm at All Saints Episcopal Church 1559 N. Central Ave., Indianapolis, IN.
A Requiem Mass will celebrate Scott’s life on Saturday, May 16th, 2015 at 11:00 am at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1559 N. Central Ave., Indianapolis, IN. Mother E. Suzanne Wille will officiate.
In Scott’s honor, the family requests that memorial donations be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, 1559 N. Central Avenue, Indianapolis, IN.
