Scott Andrew Harper was born on March 26, 1961, in San Diego California, to Eugene and Henrietta (Quaiver) Harper and was welcomed into Heaven on February 16, 2017.

Scott, the 8th of 10 children born to the Harper’s was a spirited child who danced to the beat of his own drum.

Scott married the love of his life, Stacy Burk, on June 27, 1987.

Stacy brought into this marriage her son Christopher. Scott fell head over heels in love with Christopher the first time he laid eyes on him.

Chris was a special needs child, being born with Cerebral Palsy. Scott never looked at his “son” as handicapped and when someone said Chris couldn’t do something, Scott always asked “WHY? Why can’t he do that?”. Scott made sure Chris went to all sorts of events and family functions and made sure that the WHY was always… he could. Chris certainly lived a fuller, richer and a more enhanced life because of Scott and they loved each other deeply. Sadly, Chris passed away in December of 2012.

Scott and Stacy were blessed with three other children, Melissa Kay in 1988, Nicholas Andrew in 1991 and Abby Lynn in 1997.

Scott was a fiercely devoted family man and nothing meant more to him than his wife, children and extended family.

Melissa blessed the family with the birth of her daughter, Kaylynn Roseanne, in 2009. Once again, Scott fell head over heels in love with this little girl and they were constant companions. Scott took her most everywhere he went. They often went on special “date” afternoons going to see the latest children’s movies.

God Bless the innocence of babes, Kaylynn asked if she had to say goodbye to her Papa. She was told she could say anything she wanted and promptly told him she loved him and that he missed the new Troll movie. Kaylynn loves her Papa like no other and the feeling was returned with a passion.

Carpentry was Scott’s trade and he excelled at it. He worked very hard to provide for his family. Before going into business for himself, Scott worked many years with his brothers at Harper Brother’s Carpentry.

Scott loved to ride his bicycle, was an avid fisherman and a faithful fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs. He would be over the moon to know that the Cubs won the World Series.

One of the highlights for him each year, was the Harper Brother’s Big Bass Fishing Tournament in May.  Scott won this tournament several times and was proud to bring home the revolving trophy and the jackpot he won.

Scott was a good man…. A hard working man….. A devoted family man and he will be missed tremendously.

Scott was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Lee; parents, Eugene and Henrietta (Quaiver) Harper; and sister, Sandra Harper.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 30 years, Stacy; son, Nicholas; daughters, Melissa (Matt) Hoffman and Abby; grandchildren, Kaylynn Roseanne, Wyatt James and Piper Elizabeth; sister, Kathleen (David) Smith; brothers, David (Mary), Paul (Cherie), Dennis (Teresa), Jeffrey (Julie), Douglas (Nancy), Louis and Gary; mother and father in-law, Kay and Mark Horton; brother and sister in-law, Bill and Debbie Adams; and many many nieces and nephews…

Scott’s life will be celebrated on February 25, 2017 with services at 1PM at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church,  100 W 86th Street; Indianapolis, IN  46260. Friends may come and share memories of Scott with his family beginning at Noon until service time.
