Sandra Maurita Bland was born June 29, 1942 in Indianapolis, In to Walter and Loretta Bland.  She was the oldest of six children.

Sandra graduated from Crisps Attucks High School in 1959 and graduated from nursing school as a LPN in 1963.  She worked as a nurse for over 30 years at various hospitals, including Wishard Hospital and Methodist Hospital.  She spent the last half of her career working as a nurse in correctional facilities such as the Juvenile Center, the Woman’s Prison, and Marion County Jail.

She loved to joyride while listening to music, loved to laugh, loved life, but was quick to put you in your place if you were out of line! She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She is survived by 3 children Lynnette , David, and Mark Jones and 5 grandchildren, and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
