Mrs. Rosa Carol Whitley, daughter of the late Kathrine Shaw and Jessie Coachman, was born August 17, 1951 in Corrigan Texas. At a very young age she professed a belief in Christ and was baptize. Married while in college, Rosa moved to Indianapolis, Indiana 45 years ago where she lived until she became one of God’s precious angels.
Rosa’s education begun in Corrigan Texas, graduating from Corrigan High School. After High School Rosa attended Angelina Jr. College, in Lufkin Texas, majoring in Business Accounting, a profession that she worked in and utilized the skills she learned for 30+ years.
Rosa worked in the Accounting field throughout her entire professional career beginning at Blocks Department Store in the 1970’s to spending the last 11 years prior to her retirement at Bell Industries.
Rosa was united in Holy Matrimony to Larry Whitley on March 24, 1972. During their union her 2 sons Brian and Eric were born. Together they enjoyed a good, loving life, marital contentment, and many years of happiness.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt, sister-in-law and friend, family was very precious to Rosa. Her husband Larry, her sons, Brian and Eric, and her grandchildren were her life. Rosa had a loving spirit and was very compassionate. The goodness and kindness within her was a bright light that was obvious to all she came in contact with. She had a big heart and a willingness to help whomever she could, whenever she could. Rosa will be sorely missed by everyone that knew and loved her, and all that she touched.
Rosa Carol Whitley departed this life, and gracefully went home to be with our Lord on Friday, June 1, 2018, at the age of 66 years, 9 months, and 16 days. Waiting to welcome her into heaven were her parents Kathrine Shaw & Jessie Coachman, her sister Sheila Moore, and her father and mother-in law Robert Whitley Sr. and Mable Whitley.
Rosa leaves to cherish her precious memory her husband, Larry Whitley; Two sons, Brian K Whitley (Desiree); and Eric L Whitley (LaShaunda). Three Grandsons; DeAndre M Whitley, Kiyan K Whitley, and Dominic Whitley, and One Granddaughter, Elisa N Whitley. Two Brothers, James Bennett and Augustus Moore, One Sister, Dorothy Gray, One Aunt, Betty Ruth Hood, and One Special Daughter, Lisa Wilson. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, other family members, and beloved friends
