Ronald E. Roland, 61, passed away December 7, 2014 in his residence at Lamb Lake, Trafalgar, Indiana. He was a Senior Systems Analyst and worked for American States Insurance for 21 years. Born in Wichita, Kansas to Betty and Bob Roland, Ron enjoyed a lifelong passion for cars and racing. Starting with a 1967 Mustang fastback in high school, he owned one of the first Mazda RX-7’s in the U.S. and loved driving his Porsche Boxster. He loved watching car racing and enjoyed attending races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. His passion for speed carried over to his love of riding roller coasters nationwide. Ron learned to fish on family vacations to Missouri and carried that into an adulthood hobby. He had a special fondness for German Shepherds, having owned six in his lifetime, one of which was often seen riding with him in his golf cart. Lamb Lake was a source of great joy to him and he cherished early evening boat cruises with his family and dogs. Ron is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sheree Roland, his daughter, Michaela (22) and son Derrick (24).
