Robert Joseph Gnall, 81, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospice. The family wants to thank the doctors and staff of St. Vincent Hospice for their wonderful, loving, and compassionate care during his time at the facility and at home. He was born April 20, 1933, in Taylor, PA, to John and Catherine (Schuster) Gnall. Bob graduated from Taylor High School in 1950. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1952 and served shore duty at the U.S. Amphibious Base in Little Creek, Virginia. He also served aboard the LST1041 and USS Krishna as a storekeeper. He married Mary Patricia Carmody on February 11, 1956.
After his discharge from the Navy, he finished his education at night while working as a milkman during the day. He graduated from the University of Scranton in 1963 with a B.S. degree in accounting and business. He was employed in materials management for a number of years as a warehouse, inventory, or materials manager. He retired from Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville, IN, as a manager of materials in 1999. He was a member of the Navy Club Ship 29 in Noblesville, and the American Legion Post 470 in Fishers. He was also an avid Colts fan and attended the games for 30 years. His other favorite pastime was attending his grandchildrens’ activities over the years.
