Robert Edwin Newman, 88, Indianapolis, died on Sunday, September 25, 2016. Robert “Bob” was born to Ora and Bernice (Webster) Newman in Indianapolis on August 18, 1928. He graduated Arsenal Tech High School in 1946 and was married to Barbara Rickenbrode on August 31, 1947. Together they attended Moody Bible Institute and Nyack Missionary College in preparation for missionary service in Chile, Costa Rica, and Spain. They adopted their son, Michael, in Chile. At retirement, they settled in Indianapolis and were active at Faith Missionary Church.
Bob is survived by his son Michael (Carol) Newman of Salem, VA; granddaughter, Miranda Newman of Salem VA; and brothe,r John (Jodi) Newman of Indianapolis, IN. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, wife, parents and siblings, Marjorie Richards, Rosemary Hittle, and Kenneth Newman.
Family and Friends will gather at Noon on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Faith Missionary Church, 91st and College Ave. in Indianapolis, with his funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. He will laid to rest at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
