Rex Anthony Garing, 74, of Avon, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2018 surrounded by friends and family after a courageous battle with ALS and Dementia.
Rex is survived by his wife Sharon of 50 years, daughter Kelli Webb (Jason), son Randall Garing (Mary Beth), sister Jeanne Huiett (Jim) and grandsons Joseph Barone, Justin Webb, Caleb Webb and nieces, nephews and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maxine Garing, brothers Peter and Terry Garing and his sister Judy Boyle.
Rex was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked as an Air Traffic Controller for years and eventually retired from the Indiana State Department of Transportation. He enjoyed Notre Dame football and Indiana University Basketball. He loved being a vibrant part of Life Pointe Community Church. Rex loved his wife, family and friends and was always eager to help when they needed him.
A special thank you to Rita Fiorentino of The Gathering Together Hospice Home for her loving care and support. Also, thank you to the many kind family and friends who have demonstrated much compassion and love through a million different ways during Rex’s illness.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 am at Life Pointe Community Church of the Nazarene in Mooresville, Indiana on Saturday, January 27, 2018, with funeral services immediately following at 11:30 am. Rex will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Life Pointe Community Church at www.lpcommunity.org/donate (825 North Indiana Street, Mooresville, IN 46158) under the “Rex Garing Memorial Fund.” All proceeds will be distributed evenly to The Gathering Together Hospice Home and the Youth Ministries of Life Pointe Community Church.
