Phyllis Ann Carter, 45, Waterford, Michigan passed away February 3, 2018.
Phyllis Ann Carter, daughter of Wilson Lee Carter and Joynell Kelly, was born February 18, 1972, Indianapolis, IN. Phyllis also had a loving stepfather David T. Kelly who was an important part of her life.
Phyllis was a graduate of George Washington High School. After graduating she pursued career in mortgage and loan originations. Later Phyllis decided to move to Pontiac, MI where she was employed with several financial companies. Her last long-term employment was with Quicken Loan in Detroit, MI.
Phyllis accepted Jesus Christ into her life at a very early age. Phyllis was a faithful dedicated member of Welcome Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac, MI under the leadership of Pastor Douglas P. Jones for over 18 years where she loved singing in the choir. Phyllis sung with the Inspirational Voices and the combine choir since 2002. Phyllis had a smile and laughter that was contagious! She was the real comedian in the family. She loved cooking and eating good food. Fashion and glamour was her thing earning her the nickname “Miss Diva” Most of all Phyllis adored spending time with her only granddaughter, Theia Elizabeth! Theia was “Granny’s Baby”!
Phyllis leaves to cherish her memories, her two sons, John (Elizabeth) Raines III, U.S. Marines Corp, California and Dionte Carter, Michigan; granddaughter Theia Elizabeth Raines, California; grandmother, Sarah Shaw; grandfather Lloyd (Audrey) Shaw, South Carolina; godmother, Veronica Nash; sisters, Angela (Eddie) Beverly, Daneka (Keith) Chambers, Jr., Andrea Carter, Levetra (Keith) Massey, Texas; brothers, David T. Kelly, Jr., Ohio, Cameron Kelly, and a hosts of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at noon at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250 with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to immediately follow at Washington Park North Cemetery.

I have met Phyllis through a mutual friend from work (title source), and when I met Phyllis she was always pleasant and always had a smile. It is very sad to know a team member who was so caring and loving is now gone. We did not know Phyllis was sick, I am very saddened. Prayers to the family, Phyllis was a very sweet person. I lost contact with Phyllis after she moved to Michigan. She was one of my closest friends and I thought about her often throughout the years. I was so happy when she found me on Facebook and we were able to reconnect. She had a genuine love for her family and friends.
