Penny L. Ramey, 61 of Columbus passed away September 28, 2017 after a long battle to colon cancer.  She was born in Ft. Polk, Louisiana on June 13, 1956 to Murriel and Glendola Phelps.

Penny enjoyed crafts, fishing, and mushroom hunting but she loved spending time with her family the most.

Penny is survived by her husband, Donald; parents, Murriel and Glendola Phelps; brother, Rick Phelps; 3 sisters, Sheila Phelps, Lisa Smith, and Sonja Evans; 4 daughters, Daphne Emery, Laura Burton, Leslie Heagy, and Renae Shadday; seven sons, Todd and Jeremy Buckler, Donald Jr, Murriel, Chad, Brandon, and Cody Ramey; 29 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Penny was preceded in death by her sister, Christy Renae Phelps; grandparents, Freeman and Lavada Phelps and Ray and Dorothy Borders; grandchildren, Dillon Burton, Angel Heagy, and Jason Michaels.

Visitation will be Monday, October 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Who So Ever Will Community Church, Edinburgh. Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3rd at the church with Pastor Lewis Burton officiating, with a one hour visitation before the service.  Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery.

  17. So sorry for your loss. Although Penny was my cousin, we never got to spend a lot of time together after growing up due to life and distance. My sisters kept me updated. I pray for peace and comfort for the family in the coming days and months as losing a beautiful person, wife and mother is always there.
