Peggy Johnson, 84, St. Louis, MO passed away May 9, 2017.
Peggy Johnson was born on July 27, 1932 to the Union of Bishop James C. Pritchett and Katie Blane Pritchett in Wheatcroft, Kentucky. She was the youngest girl of eight children and was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Othella Nellon, Sally Carter, and Betty Henderson, and brothers Joe Book, James Pritchett, Bill Pritchett, and Daniel Pritchett. Her sons Brian and James also preceded her in death.
The good seed of the Lord was sown into her life by her parents in both word and deed. They taught their children to love God and each other. This resulted in the sisters bonding in a special way that lasted for more than 80 years.
After moving to Indianapolis Peggy met and married Charlie Johnson who preceded her in death after 34 years of marriage. Eight children were born into this union. For over 30 years she owned and operated her own business as beautician. She was adored by all of her clients that she served. Peggy loved listening to gospel music, shopping, making jewelry, doing crossword puzzles, and playing Candy Crush. She was also known as a “snazzy dresser” who looked good wherever she went.
As the seeds that were planted in her youth grew, Peggy professed her belief and trust in Jesus by uniting with the Christ Church Holiness Church in Indianapolis. After moving to St. Louis she united with God First Church under the leadership of Pastor Carl C. Lucas, Sr. Mother Johnson was loved by all who knew her.
Peggy leaves to cherish her memory daughter Pamela Wisham (Melvin) of St. Louis, Missouri, sons Charles Johnson, (Laura); Glenn Johnson (Alicia); Allen Johnson, Sr. (Lauren) of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Earl Johnson; grandchildren Nicole, Trina, Michael, Melvin, Jr., Vanessa, Glenn, Andre, Jessica, Charles, Crystal, Jeff, De’Shawn, Allen, Jr., and Jordan; 24 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren, and special nieces Nola Childs and Debra Johnson all whom she loved with whole heart.
