In Wales it is often said that though the father is the head of the house, the mother is the heart.  That was certainly the case for the Harding Family.

Patricia Ann Harding (Rambo) was born on October 26, 1928 in Walesboro, Indiana to Gertrude and Lee Rambo.  She passed away peacefully November 15, 2016 at Hancock Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

She attended elementary school in Columbus and Edinburgh and graduated from Greensburg High School.  She graduated from Ball State University’s School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse.  To suggest that after graduation our mother never practiced nursing would be a gross misstatement; she applied nursing to her family and to the working class neighborhood in which we grew up on Gray Street.

Pat married Clarence Vernon “Bud” Harding in June of 1950.  She is survived by her five children: Gary Lee (Daughter-in-Law Kathy) New Palestine; Michael Vernon, San Diego, California; Sue Annette (Son-in-Law Michael Griffith) Woodinville, Washington; Dina Marie (Son-in-Law Wayne Vannice) Monroe, Michigan; Bonnie Kay, Bloomington and a heart-adopted daughter, Tracy Walker, Pittsboro.  She also has nine grandchildren: Lee, Amanda, Katie, Jayson, Aaron, Allison, Carly, Julie, Jordan, three step grand-children, Kelli, Karina, Kalin and one heart-adopted grandchild, Regan.   Pat is also survived by twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 18,  2016 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Linwood Christian Church 4424 E. Michigan Street, Indianapolis, IN 46201

Burial to follow at Daugherty Cemetery, Walesboro, IN

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Linwood Christian Church Food Pantry, 4424 East Michigan Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46201.

Someone so special can never be forgotten. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. May your memories give you peace and comfort.

Your lovely mother will always be remembered. After church she always whispered a blessing. May you and your family be comforted and may you have peace in your hearts that she is at home. With deepest heartfelt sympathy, Love, Linda, Dan, and Lisa Bernd

I will always remember caring for your mother and conversations with your family (and the singing). Interestingly, my mom and her family also graduated from Greensburg High in the same time frame that your mother did. How ironic!
