Pamela Orbaugh Taylor, 71 of Carmel, Indiana passed away peacefully on January 2nd after a protracted and courageous battle with cancer.
Pamela was born in Mayfield, Kentucky to father Mel Jones and mother Jeannette Jones. She grew up as the eldest of three.
Pamela graduated as valedictorian from Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood, IN in 1964, and went on to earn her Bachelor degree in Medical Technology from Ball State University, graduating magna cum laude. She spent time in Bloomington, IN where she raised her children, worked in the Bloomington Hospital laboratory, and established lasting friendships.
Pamela married William “Dub” Taylor on October 2, 1993. Together they began several successful entrepreneurial ventures, including The Pipeline Group Midwest and C-Store Management Group. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a loyal friend to many. She enjoyed playing the piano, playing cards, spending times with friends and loved ones, and boasting about her grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Mark’s Carmel United Methodist Church.
Shortly after becoming a grandmother (Nana) in 2002, Pamela was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and remained steadfast in her determination over the last 16 years to battle the disease. She helped to champion efforts through Miles for Myeloma to generate disease awareness and raise funding for research and care. She provided support to many fellow patient friends. She also authored and published a children’s book, Me and My Nana: Our Story of Hope and Healing to educate her own grandchild, and other children of patients, about cancer treatment. She remained brave and resolute, even in her final months.
Pamela is survived by her husband; sons Jason (Deborah) Orbaugh of Calgary, AB, Scott (Tanya) Orbaugh of Bloomington, IN; sister Tamra (David) Honchul of Severn, MD; niece (Sarah); nephew (Jonathan); and four grandchildren (Sam, Jack, Sage, Charlie).

Pam was a fighter! She gave it her best years, her understanding of her illness was passed on to others to help them . One day a higher power said to her that it was time to rest and come. God made a special person in Pam and I for one was very fortunate to have shared time and memories with her. Thank you God and care for Pam’s family as she would have.
