
Nicholas “Nick” Maricic, 78, of Indianapolis died Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville, IN. He was born May 11, 1939 in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan the son of Charles and Marguerite (Crane) Maricic. Nick was a 1957 graduate of Springfield High School in Battle Creek.
Committed to serving his country and community Nick joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves in 1956. He received an honorable discharge on July 10, 1957 and the very next day enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on July 11, 1957. On October 8, 1959, he received an honorable discharge after nearly 4 years of total service as an Air Policeman. Continuing his path to help others Nick joined the Springfield Fire Department in 1963. He retired as a Lieutenant in 1967 and immediately joined the Battle Creek City Fire Department. Nick retired in 1989 after more than 24 years of service. In his free time Nick enjoyed spending his time with friends at the Battle Creek Gun Club where he competed all over the United States in trap and skeet shooting, winning numerous awards. After relocating to the Indianapolis area, he quickly joined the Indiana Gun Club where he continued his joy of the Sport.
On June 9, 2000 Nicholas was united in marriage with Janet Ann (Graw) who survives. Also surviving are four step-daughters; Kim Rasey, Tina Rasey, Tonya Rocho (Rasey), and Kristi Rasey, son, Charles Maricic and daughter, Carla Maricic from a previous marriage, 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grand child. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A cremation and graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Nick and i went to school together and lived in Springfield… We played many sports together and had many good times and later we worked together as firemen….Sorry to hear we have lost another classmate….RIP Nick/
