FUN-LOVING and FANCY FREE
Nancy, “Fancy Nancy” as we liked to call her, was indeed fancy in ALL her ways. She enjoyed fashion and shopping and everything that goes along with it. She loved to keep her nails and feet “done” at all times! Nancy loved music, and she loved to sing. She was a great cook and enjoyed making all the plans for family gatherings. Nancy was a social butterfly, especially in her younger days. She made friends wherever she went. Fun-loving and always on the go, she most likely attended many of the main events around town. She loved to be on the scene. She enjoyed spending time with family, hanging out with her friends, going to concerts, movies, parties, or her favorite nightclubs. And back in the day, Nancy had tons of fun being with her big sisters on the scene at the rink!
MOM
Nancy ‘s first marriage produced two beautiful sons, Ronnie and Collin Fortson. They are her absolute most cherished achievement in life! She was a loving mother who doted and flat out bragged, especially when they were little boys! She dressed them well in all the latest fashions. That was always very important to her. She was so very proud of her oldest Ronnie, for the man that he has become, and for the awesome father he is to his children. She would often talk about how smart he is, and all of his many talents. Collin, her youngest- now that was her baby! She was beaming with pride at his high school graduation, and completely ecstatic when he decided to pursue college! This is something that she has always wanted for him, and she did everything in her power to help him succeed in his quest. She was so very proud of Collin and everything that he has accomplished! Nancy loved her children very, very much, and she wanted nothing more than for both of them to stay on track and live their best life!
NANA
Nancy was blessed with three adorable grandchildren. Eden, Emmanuel, and Evelyn. “Nana” is what they called her. She was totally over the moon about her grandkids, and she spent as much time as possible spoiling them rotten, and showering them with ALL of Nana’s love!
Nancy believed in God. She accepted Christ, and for a time, became a member of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her family and her friends, and she always tried to help people in the capacity that she could. The void of her absence is and will be felt by all who knew and loved her.
Nancy leaves to cherish her memory, (2) sons, Ronald M.Fortson, and Collin Fortson; (1) brother, Sammy Collins; (4) sisters, Margie Collins, Christy Short, Nonna Aarons (Ronnie), Patricia Taylor; (3) Grandchildren, Eden, Emmanuel, and Evelyn Fortson; her partner, Larry Jenkins; former spouse, Ronald D. Fortson; her very special and dear to her heart nieces and nephews, Nikita, Kandace, Patrick, Kiersten, Kayla, Breonna, Cara, and Brandon; and a host of aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Patricia Collins; grandparents, Justus and Marjorie Collins, and Royce Crenshaw and Leona Crenshaw.
Chilian family says
To the family, please accept our deepest condolences for your dear loved one. The bible assures us that Jehovah God is aware of our pain and he is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). It also gives us the promise that there will be a resurrection and that God will bring an end to death once and for all (John 5:28,29; Revelation 21:4). From that point on we will never have to feel the pangs of death again. We pray these words and scriptures are able to bring you some comfort.

I wanted to send my love and condolences to the Collins family. I am so sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the beautiful hope promised in God’s Word, the Bible. John 5:28,29 says, “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” What this can mean for you personally is the hope of being reunited with Nancy once again in a beautiful paradise on earth. (Revelation 21:4,5)

To the Collins Family, may God bless and comfort each and every one of you during this time of grief. Please accept my sincere condolences. Me and Nancy became friends in elementary at school 79. We used to spend every weekend together going skating, to the mall and having sleepovers. We would be all sad on Sunday evenings because we knew her sisters Nonna or Dee Dee, would be picking her up from spending the night at my house. We always kept in contact through the years. Our last and most recent phone call was on Sept 2nd and we were going to plan us a girl’s trip. I fill honored and blessed to have known her and I have nothing but fond memories of my sister/friend Nancy. May she rest in peace with the Lord. I LOVE YOU NANCY COLLINS!!
