A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2015  at Valley Mills Christian Church, 5555 Kentucky Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46221. Friends may call from 11: 30 a.m. until service time. Mike will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery following his service.

Michael Wayne Lillard

December 9, 1951 – May 15, 2015

Mike passed away on May 15, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 9, 1951. He attended Arsenal Tech High School.

Mike was married to Barbara Akins on December 14, 1985 and that’s when the family began. Mike worked maintenance for Shiloh Real Estate. He always said “Master of all trades, certified in none”. Mike was an avid Colts fan. He always enjoyed watching the games with his family. Mike loved his children and grand -children tremendously. He was very family oriented and always said how proud he was of the way his children were raising their children. Mike’s favorite holiday was 4th of July. He loved cook-outs with the family and was the “Grill Master”.

Mike had worked for the store his parents owned along with one brother and sisters. He played in a band during his younger years and carried on his love for music throughout his entire life. Mike always looked forward to family gatherings at Sandy and Sam’s place. He would always look forward to cook-outs, Christmas and other events with his family.

Mike enjoyed spending weekends with his family. He loved playing guitar and singing as well as listening to his favorites such as the Beatles and Elvis and George Straight to name a few. Mike also enjoyed going to Kitley events and car shows and always talked about the Anderson Oval track that he visited with Larry. One of his fondest memories was a surprise trip to Anderson Oval Track his son Michael had taken him on.

Mike is survived by: his wife Barbara Lillard; daughter, Michelle (Eddie); daughter, Rachael (Neil), son, Michael (Nicole), daughter, Ashley and daughter, Angelea; grand -children, Brandon, Brittony, Mikey, Nevaeh, Braelyn, Sabastion and Autumn; sisters, Sandy ( Sam Meadows), Peggy ( Tommy Martin) and Tammy Hubbard ( Kim Anderson); as well as many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by: his parents, William and Erma Lillard; Brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Herbie Lillard; Sister, Cathy McNeil and sister, Toni Lillard Martin Thurman.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Valley Mills Christian Church at 1pm, with visitation from 11:30-1 pm.
