What can I say about such a wonderful man…
He was wise, giving, loving, and had a heart bigger than the ocean itself. He was a wonderful step-father to my son and the best husband to me. The day I laid eyes on him, I knew I would be his wife. He will forever be loved by many. I will never forget you, the sweetest love of my life. The only love of my life… –Deana TomWhat can I say about my dad? But a story to show who he was to me. When I was in grade school maybe third grade I had to go to summer school. I was so scared because it was my first time going to school without my sister. My dad who was back living with us at the time, began talking to me about Jesus and his love. This is one of my first real memories of learning about Christ love. My dad and I said the Lord’s Prayer and I became saved that night. My dad talking to me about “Jesus’ armor”. He pretended to place that armor on me, telling me what each piece meant to him. It made me feel calm and safe; I was able to fall asleep that night. My sister has said my dad and I have always had a deep connection with god. I know I was given that connection from my father that night. My dad was a Good man and he instilled that in me. He was also a protector over his family and friends. Something that lives on in me. He would do anything for anyone. We are a lot alike which caused for some bumps along the way. Some of my last words to my dad while at the hospital were “I wouldn’t have traded you being my dad for anything, I’m thankful I got you.” It’s really so said he never actually heard me say it.
I loved being like him, I loved looking like him, I’m proud of who I am because of him. I love you dad. – Leslie Tom

Mike, we never met in person…but you have given my friend a lot of joy and happiness, and for that I am grateful. It takes a special kind of strength to enter into a parent role for a special needs child, and I salute someone who not only takes on that role, but relishes in it. Some of my favorite pictures are with Charlie on your shoulders with the biggest smile on his face. You will forever be his “Meek”. Matthew 5:5 will never read the same to me again. Rest in Heaven brother.

Mike was a very cool person and someone I had respect for. You stepped into Deana and Monkeys life and fit like a comfortable pair of shoes. I have never seen my friend so happy and in love. I seen a change in her that I attribute to you and your influence. Monkey was always smiling when I seen him in pics with you. It’s not easy to step in others lives and be such a positive impact. Your love and dedication to her and her son will never be forgotten and I know you will keep a watchful eye over them. Rest peacefully

My deepest condolences to the Tom family. Even though I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Mr. Michael Tom, I understand that losing a loved one is heartbreaking. A pain that even our Lord Jesus Christ suffered when his friend Lazarus died (John 11:33) But he also gave us hope for the future found in John 5:28, 29 – ” Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life.” May the hope of once again seeing our loved ones give you the strength that you need during these difficult situation. Had the pleasure of servicing Mike at my Washington Square Sherwin Williams store. Always told me family stories and how him and his wife loved going to Applebee’s. Very good man who was honest and fair. Always Kept a smile on this face. Broke my heart this morning to walk into work to see his obituary sitting on my keyboard. May he Rest In Peace.

Deana, I am truly at a loss after I had received your text. Michael and I had a long lasting business relationship, but we were also friends. He cared so much about what he did professionally, but his human side, his kind side and caring about others would always shine. I am so sorry for your loss, I did not know about it and would have certainly wanted to be part of the sharing of his life. I pray for you and your family. A good man is with God!!
