Michael Green was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 18, 1955, one of six children born to John Albert Green and Lillian Mae (Johnson) Green. Michael attended Indianapolis Public School 56, and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. In school, Michael excelled in mathematics, and had a love for music. In grade school he was in the school’s orchestra, and he continued his love for music in Tech’s musical band.

Michael, better known as Mike, loved sports like most men. He loved basketball, but most of all golf. Whenever he had a chance to go on the golf course, the golf course is where Mike could be found.

As a child, Mike attended Trinity CME with his family, and as he grew older, he sought the Lord for himself. As God would have it, someone invited him to Grace Apostolic Church. There, Mike received the revelation of the Oneness of God, and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and received the gift of the Holy Ghost according to Acts 2:38. Mike fell in love with the preaching and teaching of his pastor the late Bishop Morris E. Golder. Mike would study his Bible, ask his pastor questions, and became very studious in the Word of God.  Since Mike loved music, he found himself singing bass in the Bishop’s Choir and Grace Senior Choir. While Mike attended Grace Apostolic Church, his eyes fell upon one of the sisters there that would become his wife – Mona Thomas after years of persistent pursuit; Mike and Mona were married April, 14, 1984. During his later years, Mike attended and enjoyed the Word and worship at Temple of Praise Assembly, where the Pastor and First Lady are the Honorable Bishop Donald L. Golder, and First Lady Evangelist Barbara Scott Golder.

During Mike’s working career he worked at Methodist Hospital from 1975 to 1998 as a hospital floor finisher. Mike also worked as a personal caregiver before his health began to decline. Mike was a resident of Lawrence Manor Nursing Home where he formed new friends and talked about the marvelous healing power of God after suffering several strokes. Mike loved sharing the Word of God to many of the staff as well as the residents.

Michael Green departed this life around 12:31 am, Friday, July 20, 2018. Michael leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Mona Thomas-Green; goddaughter, Stacey Monger; siblings: John D. Green, Sharon K. Means (Ralph); Rita S. Peterson, who preceded him in death; Patricia J. Fleming, David W. Green (Angela); along with nieces, nephews, friends and the Temple of Praise Assembly family.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis. The family will greet visitors from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Sutherland Park Cemetery, 4201 Millersville Rd, Indianapolis.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Mr Green. I worked many years at Lawrence Manor and became very fond of him. My favorite memory of him is when we would take walks around the building as part of his restorative care and listen to his many enlighting stories. RIP Mr Green and heartfelt condolences to the family

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Michael. The passing away of a loved one is always with much sorrow. May we have faith and confidence in the Bible’s promise of a time when pain, sickness and death are a thing of the past (Revelation 21:3, 4). My condolences are with the family at this difficult time.

Grace and Mercy Assembly has only today discovered Mr Green’s passing. We want the family and friends of Michael Green to know that his faith, his heart and his spirit was one that deeply touched all of us who knew him. His light and love for Christ was overwhelming. He taught many of us that nothing was so precious as being aligned with Christ. We grieve at missing his presence. We rejoice because we know that his spirit is entangled with the one he loved most. Pastor Pamela Emmanuel and the congregation of Grace and Mercy Assembly
