Max Charles Blankenburg, 73, died February 5, with family at his side. He was born June 22, 1943 in Houston, TX. He graduated from Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne, IN and continued his education with a Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO. Max served as an Associate Pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, WI before returning to school.
He received a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and began work as a Clinical Social Worker with Lutheran Counseling and Family Services of Wisconsin. He and his family moved to Indiana where he continued counseling for Lutheran Child and Family Services of IN-KY before becoming the director of The Pilgrimage Center in Indianapolis. Max was a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Certified Social Workers and a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work by the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; and survived by his daughter Lara.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at 1:00 pm o Saturday, February 25 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3421 N. Park Ave, Indianapolis. Visitation will begin at noon.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Neighborhood Children’s Ministry.

    Max Blankenburg counseled me as a youngster when he was still in the Milwaukee area back in the mid 1970’s.
    He was kind, understanding and non judgmental.
    May the Lord Jesus Christ be with the Blankenburg family at this time and forever more.
