
Maurice G. “Red” Williams
Services honoring Red’s life will take place on Sat. Nov. 26, 2016 at Chesterfield Community Church of God, 123 Linden Lane, Chesterfield. Friends may call on Sat. from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the funeral at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Todd Faulkner will officiate with interment to follow in Vinson Cemetery, Summitville.
Maurice G. “Red” Williams, 93, went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 21, 2016. He was born on June 5, 1923 in Union City, Indiana to Emmett “Ed” and Lenna (Roush) Williams.
Red lived in the Summitville and Anderson areas most of his life, graduating from Summitville High School in 1941. He was an electrician for Delco Remy for 40 years before retirement.
He was an active member of the Chesterfield Church of God where he had served as a Sunday School teacher. Red was a WWII Army Veteran, 97th Infantry Division, serving in both Europe and Japan. He recently was privileged to participate in the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. for his service. He was a member of the Summitville Masonic Lodge.
Maurice married Freda Elsworth on July 20, 1945 and spent 50 wonderful years together. On July 12, 1997, he married Pat Richardson and was blessed for another 18 years.
Most of all, Red, loved his family and his Lord. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, especially IU basketball, woodworking, reading, working in the yard, visiting with friends, and traveling with his family. He was an avid supporter of all the activities of his children and grandchildren.
Maurice is survived by his son, Gary (Rhonda) Williams, Shreveport, LA. One daughter, Roxanne (David) Henderson, Fairmount; daughter-in-law, Diana (Glenn) Eddleman, Summitville; and Step-daughter, Leeann Lewis, Pendleton. Brother Loren (Marilyn) Williams, Noblesville.
Grandchildren: Julie (Brent) Pratt, Kerry Williams, Jill (Miccah) Battishill, Reid Eddleman, Sierra Lewis and Lauren Lewis.
Ten great-grandchildren: Brittany Williams, Chelsey (Matt) Decker, Zach (Millie) Williams, Breanna Williams, Abigail (Devin) George, Emma Pratt, Jon Pratt, Kennedy Battishill, Tessa Lewis, and Baby Battishill due in 2 weeks.
Four great, great-grandchildren: Ashton and Emmily Williams, Jeran Jordan, and Adalynn Tennell.
Special Friends: David Carroll and Bob Griffith. Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Freda, in 1995 and wife, Pat, in 2016. His son, Ted Williams, 1992, and grandson, Joseph Williams, 2016. His sister, Mildred Humphries, and brothers, Richard and Eldon Williams.
