
Mary Helen Montgomery, 87, of Indianapolis, was called home to the Lord on November 26, 2017.
Mary was born December 3, 1929 in Crider, Kentucky to the late Major and Agnes Brown. She was preceded in passing by her sweetheart and husband of more than 69 years, Jim Montgomery. Also preceding her were brothers Charles, Clifton, Phillip, Major Jr. and Tommy Brown; sisters Hazel Woodall, Laura Phelps, and Hilda Drennan.
Employment following high school took her to Evansville where she met and married Jim, had son Michael, and worked for a time. The family then moved to Indianapolis where Mary worked for the Post Office Credit Union for 28 years.
She is greatly missed by son Michael (Jeannine), grandsons Chris (Chrissy), Brendan (Jennifer) and Logan (Nilaja); great-granddaughters Pamela and Autumn; great-grandson Justice; brother Paul; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a member of Northside Baptist Church for over 27 years, serving on several committees. She was a member of The Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America Tarum Court #14 for over 40 years.
An avid bridge player and gardener, Mary loved to be with her family and travelled often to be with them. She enjoyed attending sporting events, especially UK, IU and Colts games. She served several times as a greeter when Indianapolis hosted NCAA events.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3rd at Northside Baptist Church. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Princeton, KY.
