Mary was very open with her love and affection for others. She was very kind and gracious to all and touched and changed the lives of many who were blessed to know her. Mary taught her children how to live life fully and how to be selfless and giving of the blessings God gave them. She will be dearly missed by her family and by those whose lives she touched.
Mary is survived by her adoring and devoted husband of 71 years, Duane and eight children; Sam (Cindy) Scifres, Treasure Island, FL; Kim (Chantal) Scifres, Midlothian, VA; Marguerite (Steve) Leach, Greenwood, IN; Roxanne (Bob) Loomis, Bruce (Jackie) Scifres, Becky Scifres of Indianapolis, IN; Bonita (Jim) Dobbs of Vallonia, IN; and Jenny (John) Scifres of Colbert, GA; along with 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Charles Montgomery, mother Jennie Montgomery, step-mother Hortense Montgomery, brothers David, Richard (Dick), and John (Jack) and sister Betty Ball and step-sister Anna Marie Hutzel.
There will be no services. The family will hold a celebration of her life at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for some act of kindness in her memory to honor her.
The Scifres family wishes to express their heartfelt thank you to the medical staff at St. Francis hospital and to the entire staff at Kindred SouthPointe for their love, compassion, and comfort in the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

I remember Mrs. Scifres because I went to grade school with her son, Sam, (or Sammy back then). I lived on Bridgeport Road. I’m so glad to know your mother was a Christian woman and that you will meet again. My condolences.

Bonita Scifres Dobbs says
It’s hard to believe it’s been ten weeks since Momma finished her earthly journey; the pain is just as deep as it was in the moment she took her last breath. I love you Momma and miss you so very much. I’ll see you on the other side ~
