Marian E. Simpson, 76, died on May 6, 2017 in Indianapolis, IN.
She is survived by her daughter Holly Simpson (Bill Beechler) and granddaughters Anne, Rose and Julia of Indianapolis. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents Harold and Phyllis McGirr and her brother Donald McGirr.
Marian was born on June 28, 1940 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was valedictorian of her class at Central Collegiate high school. She went on to obtain her nursing degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1963.
She met her husband, Robert, on a blind date and they were married on September 10, 1966 in Regina. Bob and Marian moved to London, Ontario where she taught pediatric nursing while Bob went to business school.  Afterwards, they moved to Chattanooga, TN where Holly was born.  They moved several times for Bob’s work, and finally settled in Jeffersonville, IN where they lived until 2015.
Marian was a gifted seamstress. She worked for many years at Baer Fabrics in Louisville, KY until she retired. She was a loving mother and a devoted grandmother.

A memorial service will take place on May 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis, IN.  In lieu of flowers the family requests gifts be directed to the Community Health Network Foundation of Indianapolis IN or the memorial fund of the church.

    Many people come into our life but only a few leave footprints on our heart. Such is the case with our dear friends Marion & Bob Simpson.May happy memories of their love & commitment to family brighten the days ahead.

    I know you will miss your mom/grandma very much–she left a wonderful legacy, and I’m sorry I can’t be there to share in her celebration of life. Know that my prayers are with you all.
