Madonna Mozel Caldwell Denny

November 26, 1926 – November 7, 2013.

The Denny Family is mourning and celebrating the life of Madonna Caldwell Denny.

Born to parents Pansy and Chester Caldwell in West Lafayette, Indiana, the blue-eyed Madonna flourished under the protective and teasing love of her dear brothers Dow, survived by wife (Barb) and Gene.

In 1945, she enrolled at Purdue University. She was for ever grateful to her father, Chester, who was the head of the Engineering Department at Purdue University, thus affording her an opportunity to advance her academic career at this prestigious University.

During her time at Purdue, Madonna was offered an internship to work on an amazingly interesting project being conducted, in part at the University. Some folks drink Manhattans when they talk about that project.

Fate would have it that during her two years at Purdue, she met the love of her life, Talbott Denny (March 12 1928 – September 23 2006)

Madonna transferred to the University of Illinois in 1947. Blessed at birth with not only beauty, but grace, she spent a year on the synchronized swim team at the U of I.  She graduated in 1948 with a Bachelors in Education and a minor in Literature. Madonna also received the award for Outstanding Graduate of Art Education.

June of 1949 brought the blissful union of Madonna and Talbott Denny.

A devoted Catholic and faithful wife, she and Talbott begat six wonderful children, all of whom survived her passing. Madonna was surrounded by the love of her children and grandchildren when she passed away peacefully in Tucson, AZ.

All of her family, including Karen Denny, sons Jonathon Mathon and Mckinley Mathon, Talbott Denny Jr., (wife Susan) sons Austin Denny and Mclean Denny, stepchildren Patrick Maynard and Erin Maynard, Steve Denny (wife Tracy) sons Talbott Denny and Blake Denny, Kathryn Denny Strimmer, (husband Steve), Lisa Denny Reynolds, (husband Mark) son Dylan Reynolds and daughter Olivia Reynolds, and Joanie Denny CNP, sisters in law Ann Irvine, Betty Denny, and Barb Caldwell, longtime friend and trusted employee, Mrs. Collier, several nieces and nephews, all will miss her dearly.

A Mass will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church this Saturday, November 16 at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Calvary Holy Cross Cemetery of St. Joseph’s.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Little Sisters of the Poor or to St. Luke Catholic Church in Madonna’s remembrance.
