An open house to celebrate Allen’s life will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2016, from 1:00 to 5:00p.m. for family and friends, at the home of his daughter, Angela, in Fishers.

Lowell A. “Allen” Rees, 78, of Fortville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his immediate family on September 28, 2016, after an extended illness.  He was born in Indianapolis on July 18, 1938 to the late Lowell E. and Maryrose (Lewis) Rees.

Allen graduated from Fortville High School in 1956, and attended Butler University.  He was a member of the Fortville First United Methodist Church.

For most of Allen’s life, he owned and operated a service station in Fortville, and later at Blue and White Services in Indianapolis.  He was known to many as “Big Al.”

Mr. Rees is survived by his high school sweetheart, wife of 59 years, Sandra (Kellam) Rees, his daughters, Angela (Greg Hopkins) Wade of Fishers, and Natalie (Ryan) Visperas of McCordsville; three granddaughters, Amber Marie (Michael) Alewine, Sarah Marie Wade, Katherine “Kate” Rees Wade; one grandson, Adam Taylor Wood; sister, and brother-in-law, Margie and Bruce Whitaker of McCordsville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Larry “Butch” and Janie Cox; aunt, Thelma Peterson; uncle, Bud (Beth) Rees; and numerous nieces and nephews.

An open house to celebrate Allen’s life will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2016, from 1:00 to 5:00p.m. for family and friends, at the home of his daughter, Angela, in Fishers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fortville First United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Indiana Funeral Care.
