Services for Lillian will be Thursday, April 7 with visitation from 11:00 to 1:00 pm and Funeral Service at 1:00 pm at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250, burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens following the service.

Lillian R. Van Meter of Indianapolis passed away April 2, 2016.  Lillian was born in Bowling Green, KY June 8, 1918..  She lived 80 of her 97 years in Indianapolis.  During that time she was assistant buyer of fabrics at Wm. H. Block , ran the office for  the Gulf  filling station at 62nd and Allisonville Road (owned by Lillian) and the Texaco filling station at 82nd and Allisonville Road,(owned by Richard Van Meter her husband), and worked 31 years as a salesperson of women’s designer clothing for Davidson’s Indiana Fur.  Lillian loved her family  and home.  She enjoyed being outside in the sunshine caring for her yard and flowers,. traveling, sewing, and a good novel.  She was a much loved and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother,  and great great grandmother.

Lillian is  survived by her daughter, Joyce Hedback;  her grandchildren ,  Lisa Smith, Karen Hedback, and Jeffrey (Carla) Hedback; her great grandchildren, Brian Hedback, Rachel Smith, Jaden  Hedback and Jaci Rayn Hedback; and her great great grandchild Bryan James Hedback.
Lillian was preceded in  death by her husband Richard M.  Van Meter,  her daughter Ima Jean Van Meter Poynter, (Curt), her mother Erin  C. Herald, her father Hubert D. Herald, her four siblings James E. Herald (Ruth living) Virginia Slavey (Walter), Cecil R. Herald (Edna), Doris Riordan (Charles living).

Services for Lillian will be Thursday, April 7 with visitation from 11:00 to 1:00 pm and Funeral Service at 1:00 pm at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250, burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens following the service.

                                                                        Rest in Peace
                                                        You are not forgotten loved one
                                                        Nor will you ever be
                                                        As long as life and memory last
                                                        We will remember thee.
                                                        
                                                        We miss you now, our hearts are sore
                                                        As time goes by, we miss you more
                                                        Your loving smile, your gentle face
