
Lester Lee Frye, 83 of Greenwood, passed away on Monday August 21, 2017 at the Indiana Masonic Home. Lester was born July 27, 1934 in Peoga, IN to the parents of John and Mamie (Anderson) Frye. He was one of six children. Graduated in 1952 from Helmsburg High School in Brown County. Received his bachelor degree in 1955 from Wisconsin State College, Masters of Science in 1960 from University of Wisconsin and 1979 received a Masters of Arts degree from Indiana Central University. His teaching career started with Palmyra Wisconsin School district as 8th grade teacher and coach from 1955 to 1961. From 1961 thru 1967, he was with Johnson Creek Wisconsin school district as principal, teacher and coach. 1967 thru 1972, he was 7th and 8th grade teacher and varsity basketball coach at Waunakee School in Madison, Wisconsin.
In 1972, he returned to Indianapolis as a teacher and basketball coach at Keystone Middle School in Perry Township and retired from teaching in 1980.
From 1973-1996, Lester was co-owner of Golden Years Antique Shop in Nashville, IN in addition during 1986-2000 co-owner of Lester L. Frye and Associates.
In 2000 he moved to Scottsdale, AZ and worked as Sales Associate for The Antique Center and then returned to Indy 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three of his siblings, William and Edward Frye of Nineveh and Doris Giger of Trafalgar. Survivors include his sister, Mary Taynor of Indianapolis and his brother, Johnny Frye of Las Vegas, NV plus several nieces, nephews, and lifetime partner, Bob Smith.
The funeral service will be held at Flinn and Maguire, Franklin IN on Saturday, August 26th at 1pm with viewing from 12 to time of service. Burial will follow at Nineveh Cemetery.
Rev. Ross Tyler of St. Johns United Church of Christ will officiate the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to Shriner’s Children Hospital or the Brown County Humane Society.
