Lena J. Harris, born July 24, 1936 to Henry & Annis Harris. She went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2018. She graduated from Ball State University School of Social Work and spent her life working with survivors of domestic violence. Ms. Harris worked at Flanner House, RAPT House and was the first director of Crane House. She also worked many years for the State of Indiana.
Ms. Harris is survived by her daughter, Sadye Sanders, granddaughter, Jennifer Byrd (Jason), lifelong companion, William Stantley Jr. and three great grandchildren Justin, Jameson and Jaden Byrd along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong family friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Henry and Edgar and sisters Idabell and Delores.
Ms. Harris served the Episcopal Church of All Saints for many years. She loved crafting, music, reading, and spending time with her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 pm on Friday, September 14 at the Episcopal Church of All Saints, 1559 Central Ave, Indianapolis, with visitation beginning at 10 am.
