
Laurel Wenonah Randall Wildey, 64, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away August 28th, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospice from lung cancer. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3rd, 2016 at The Chapel (formerly Walnut Grove) at 5825 E. 91st St., Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. prior, and 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. following.
Born December 26th, 1951 in Madison, WI, Laurie grew up in Shutesbury, outside Amherst, MA, and was a 4-H youth. With a B.S. Summa Cum Laude in Parks and Recreation from U. of Illinois and an MBA from Indiana U., she served in parks and recreation for 20 years for the Indianapolis Dept. of Parks and Recreation and Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources, culminating her career as Director of White River State Park from 1990-1992. She wrote many professional publications, received numerous awards, actively served as a member of multiple professional organizations, and served on the Indiana Trails Fund Board of Directors for over 15 years. She was an active volunteer, leader, and professional scouter in central Indiana Boy Scouts, mother of two Eagle Scouts, and Vigil Honor member of Order of the Arrow. Laurie attended First Friends Meeting for a decade, and Walnut Grove Chapel for 30 years. She was a Master Gardener and well known for her gardening.
Laurie was preceded in death by her mother Joan B. deRevere Randall and father William E. Randall, Jr. Survivors include her stepmother Margaret J. Mosher Randall, sister Virginia H. Randall Calder and family, husband J. Michael Wildey and family, and sons Craig A. Wildey and Todd C. Wildey. Memorial contributions may be given to any local Boy Scout troop.
