Larry Joe Long Sr, 65, died January 30, 2014, on what would’ve been his mother’s 86th birthday at his home in Indianapolis, IN. He was born June 13, 1948, in Greencastle, IN to Ralph Long and Judy Long (Cox), both deceased. His older sister Sharon Lynn Long passed away in 2012.
Larry attended Greencastle High School and married Jamie Marie Ennis on April 29, 1995, in Roselawn, IN. After leaving the Army in 1968, he worked primarily as a carpenter and contractor.
He was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed sing-a-longs on road trips, a competitive round (or two) of charades and cheering on the Indianapolis Colts or watching NASCAR on weekends. In recent years, he became an avid fan of Mixed Martial Arts. By all accounts, his peanut butter fudge was beyond compare.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence Carter-Long and Catherine Long of Washington, DC; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Chris Kraycsi of West Terre Haute, IN; daughter Michele Long of Terre Haute, IN; daughter and son-in-law Angela and Jay Knight of Indianapolis; and son Joseph Long of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Randy Long; and sisters, Melissa Ann Rojas, Nancy Sims and Rebecca Sue Adkins of Indianapolis.
Larry asked that no funeral service be held after his passing. He will always be remembered fondly in the hearts and minds of friends and family members. A celebration of his life is being planned for what would have been his 66th birthday in June 2014.

Jamie & Joe,
Larry was such a wonderful, loving, caring man. No matter what was happening, he ALWAYS had a kind word and piece of wisdom to share. I will never forget his open arm and open door policy. No matter where my family and I may have ‘run’ into Larry….he always invited us to come over and spend time with the family. You will be greatly missed. And to my cousins Jamie and Joe – we love you……Dana-Nathan-Elaina Matthews
