Kermit (“Kim”) John Hunt, 69, passed away February 20, 2015 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis, Indiana. Kermit was the son of Lansing A. Hunt and Charlotte M. Becker Hunt, having been born in Kingston, New York, in 1945, and raised on his parents’ sweet-corn/dairy/resort farm, Hunts Edgewater Farm, in Lomontville, NY.
Kermit attended the Rondout Valley Central Schools in Kyserike, NY before transferring to and graduating from the Faith Bible School of Theology in Maine. He married his wife, MaryAnna, in June of 1993.
After several different employments and before moving to Indianapolis in 2005, Kermit worked for the Charles River Breeding Laboratories in Stone Ridge, NY from June, 1981 to October, 2003. Kermit and MaryAnna moved to Indianapolis in 2003 to be near MaryAnna’s father, who was ill at the time. In Indianapolis Kermit worked for Wendy’s for two years and then as cashier for Southern Food Service in a local U. S. government building until 2010, when he retired.
Before coming to Indiana, Kermit was very active in the ministry of his church, the Lomontville Assembly of God, and more recently in the ministry of The Caring Place, in Indianapolis. He was a door greeter on Wednesday nights and was a leader in the Church’s Christ-centered Celebrate Recovery (from addiction) Program.
Kermit was a born-again Christian, having accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at a young age, in accordance with Romans 10:9. He spent his life in service to his Lord. Among other things Kermit played music on his auto-harp for the Bible study at the Wildwood Nursing Home in Indianapolis. Following each Bible study Kermit would walk around the nursing home and play old traditional hymns for many of the residents in their rooms. He would then pray for the residents before he left their rooms. He was an example of Jesus to everyone he met. He knew no strangers and would share the gospel wherever he went.
In addition to his wife, Kermit is survived by his brother, Douglas J. Hunt; his sister, Valerie C. Irving; a niece, Jessie Zurawell; 7 nephews, Lansing Hunt, Jonathon Hunt, David Hunt, Joseph Shields, IV, Jeremy Irving, James Hunt and Steven Hunt; four great-nieces; one great-nephew; along with several cousins. Another brother, Theodore L. Hunt, preceded Kermit in death.

June Poirier says
Kermit was a friend to me and my family since we were young. We spent many days in my parents’ dining room, making music and singing with family. His faith has always lifted me. May God comfort you and give you peace. He will be missed.
Maureen Thomas says
Oh, Maryanna I am so sorry for your great loss. We have missed you both. May the God of all comfort be your strength and peace. Love you ♥
