
Kenneth Ray Farrell, Jr., 68, of Kokomo passed away at 5:00 am Sunday, May 29, 2016, at the VA Hospital in Marion, Indiana. He was born November 26, 1947, in Waterloo, Iowa to Bette (Edwards) Helvie and Kenneth Farrell, Sr. In 1954, the family moved to Tucson, Arizona then relocated to Silverbell, Arizona in 1966. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps not long after and was sent to Vietnam. He served from 1966 to 1967 and was awarded the Purple Heart for a gunshot wound received in combat. He relocated to Kokomo in the 1990’s. He was a lifetime member of the HCVVO and enjoyed the annual reunion where he met and stayed long-time friends with many people.
He is survived by his long-time companion of 20 years, Debra Buckner; his sister Dana (Roger) Bowman; son Jason (Rachelle) Rowe; nieces Misty (Jason Schmitt) Bowman and Jamie (Chad) Bowlin; nephew Donavon Richardson; step-father Gary Helvie; and several grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Bette Helvie; father Kenneth Farrell Sr.; Aunts Fran Hardee and Helen Bosshard; and grandparents Frank and Elma Edwards and Grandma Ertle Farrell.
He requested to be cremated at Indiana Funeral Care. There will be only a private family memorial.
