Kathleen P. Bruvold, Age 72, passed to the loving arms of God on July 8, 2016. Devoted daughter to Paul and Wanda Parker. Beloved wife of 50 Golden Years to Norman. Loving mother of Kristoffer (Iva) and Erik (Molly). Proud Grandmother of Mia, Leila, Miroslav, Georgi, Filip, and Sofia. Dear sister to Valerie (James) Parker, and late sisters Margaret Ely and Mary (Richard) Cashman. A supportive Aunt to many nieces and nephews, a champion for many, an angel for her family, and a great friend and inspiration for all.

Kathleen held degrees from the University of Denver, Purdue University as well as the University of Cincinnati. As an attorney, she served the University of Cincinnati for over 20 years, retiring as Associate General Counsel, and acted as an Assistant Attorney General for the great State of Ohio.

Kathleen was also devoted to the community, serving in roles for the United Way and Community Chest. She was actively involved in the National Association of College and University Attorneys, where she steadily increased her responsibilities from participant to presenter to session chair, to national section committee member, to national section chair, to board member and then identified, nominated and helped elect a presiding president of the organization.

Most of all Kathleen cherished her family. She also enjoyed skiing, horseback-riding, good food, the arts, music and live entertainment. She found enjoyment in the Bearcats, Reds and Bengals as she meticulously navigated life with a real compassion for others and sense of morality. Her benevolent smile and positive attitude were always uplifting to others. Kathleen leaves behind a legacy of love, caring, kindness, compassion, understanding, strength and hope.

A celebration will be held at the Spring Grove Cemetery Reception Center in Cincinnati Ohio starting at 9:30AM on Saturday August 6, 2016. A service will immediately follow at the Cedars of Lebanon Chapel beginning at 11:00 AM, also located at Spring Grove Cemetery.
Memorials can be made in Kathleen’s honor directly to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or your favorite charity.

I met Kathleen when she was an attorney at the University of Cincinnati and I was an attorney at Ohio State University. She became a valued and trusted colleague and friend through both Ohio legal gatherings and our involvement in the National Association of College and University Attorneys. She was always cheerful and vibrant. In later years, we lost contact, keeping in touch through mutual friends. She enriched my life, and I will always have such great memories of her. My sincere condolences to her family and her many friends.
