Karen Gentry, 52, passed away August 2, 2017.

Karen was born on February 19, 1965. She is survived by her husband, Roy Gentry, and son,
Daniel Gentry. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. Karen is also survived by her
mother, Beatrice Ward, and sister, Linda Weidman.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Ward, and brothers Thomas “Tom” Ward, David Ward, and Allan “Deano” Ward.

She was a graduate of North Central High School in Indianapolis. Karen was a homemaker
and a talented gardener who loved plants and flowers and enjoyed helping family members
with their landscaping.

Karen was a strong woman who fought cancer valiantly and set an example of courage for her
family and friends. She won a very difficult battle against cancer a number of years ago.
Although she ultimately could not overcome the disease a second time, she put up a strong
fight. She will be remembered for her bravery and determination.

Friends and family may visit from 11:00 am until 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2017 at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis.  A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are suggested.

I’ve known Karen since she was 2. It’s very hard to understand why she is gone. She set an example of strength for all of us. My deepest sympathy to Roy, Daniel, Beatrice, and Linda, and to everyone else affected by her loss. Rest in Peace, Karen.
