
Julian R. Pharney, 76 of Indianapolis (formerly of Reynoldsburg,Ohio), passed away on January 8, 2017.
Mr. Pharney was born in the Bronx, NY to Joseph and Julia Pharney on April 12, 1940. He grew up in NYC. He attended City College of NY and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He received a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from NYU.
He was employed in his early career at AT&T West St in NYC. He was a member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ. He also worked at their locations in Columbus, OH, Lee’s Summit, MO, and for Lucent Technologies in Indianapolis. He retired in 2001 after 39 years. He then worked as a contractor for Comscope in Richardson, TX for many years.
Mr. Pharney loved fine wine, fishing, had a private pilots license and in his younger years, loved flying small planes. He loved old western movies and was an avid woodworker and pen maker.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Julia, his brothers Joseph and Alex.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Diana, daughter Robin (Chris) of Seattle, WA, son Brian (Susie) of Springfield, MO, and three beautiful grandchildren Cooper, Stella, and Quincy. He is also survived by his older brother Walter of Californ
