Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Wife, friend, fun loving, giving, caring, child of God.

Born July 29th 1946 to Selwyn (Chuck)and Flossie Dixon.  The second of their three children and only daughter.

She had uniqueness about her.  From the endearing and loving way she nicknamed those she knew to her funny sense of humor.  Her short small body frame and the way she loved to laugh bring fond memories to those lives she touched.  Her mother used to call her “joy” and that really describes her eyes.  She was never afraid of showing her child-like enthusiasm for fun.  At Christmas time many can attest to her toy store like display of décor on her favorite holiday.  Many times she wore a small button or pin for nearly every occasion and holiday.  Her eyes would sparkle when she acquired a new fun item to add to her collection whether it be lapel pins, earrings, singing Christmas decorations or a something to add to her Elvis and Stevie Ray Vaughn memorabilia.

Growing up in the 50’s played a part in her love of rock and roll music which was very catching as she would share her favorite songs and felt compelled to play them over and over.  She was nearly a professional “fan” to her favorites. She proudly displayed her fanfare on her car, home and many wardrobe items.

She was blessed to be a mother and gave life to three children and never a day went by without them knowing she loved them.   She loved babies and small dogs and there wasn’t a better smelling baby around when she cared for her grandchildren as she added just the right amount of baby lotion to their little heads. As a wife she loved intensely and sacrificed much.  As a friend she was giving and always there.

She now has gone to her heavenly home through her faith in Jesus Christ and is united with her family members that have gone before her.  There is no doubt that the sparkle in her eyes is now brighter than it has ever been.   And there is certainty that her laughter has returned and she is now enveloped in a love that she could have never found here on this earth.  As for us, she will be sadly missed and many hearts are broken but her memory and those lives she touched will stay with us the rest of our days.

Thanks be to God for bringing her in our life.  Rest in peace, dear Mama, Grandmother, wife and friend.  We look so forward to seeing you again one day.

Joyce is survived by three children, Glenn M. Yarwood Jr (Amiee Yarwood) , Leilani Yarwood Galbreath (Jay Galbreath ), Brandon Yarwood (Mandy Yarwood); and seven grandchildren, Aaron Mullins, Delaney Yarwood, Derek Galbreath, Ross Galbreath, Miranda Galbreath,  Alex Neely, and Alex Yarwood.

Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.

Joyce and I met and married in Hawaii while I was in the service in 1962 and had three GREAT children. We had 18 fine years together … and sadly parted. We remained friends. She was a great mother and was loved many that knew her. I know that she is now with her Lord and Savior. You will always be loved. Rest now!

She is now at rest and in peace. My memories, like so many others, are of her laugh, her smile, her love of anything Elvis but most importantly, how much she loved her children.

What wonderful eulogy about a very loved person! I pray that God truly wraps his arms around her children and gives the peace that can only comes from above and lets them know He is there with them.

Like her children and family, my heart is sad. Her wonderful son Glenn married my daughter Aimee and we all celebrated may occasions together. We laughed together, danced together and cried together. We will celebrate this home going as well with tears of joy. You are with our Lord now. I never doubted that was your final destination. May God touch those you have left behind and may they join you one day. See you then! Lana

Mom, it’s been 5 months since you’ve left us, much has happened since then. Not a day has passed that I haven’t felt your passing with deep pain, and longing to hear laugh or feel your presence. Us kids are closer than ever and our relationship with Dad is so much closer. Dad has purchased the plot next to yours. Brandon jokes he’s really excited because his Mom and Dad are getting back together. I continue to sing and when I do I miss hearing in the crowd. I visit you often and make sure things look good. I’m having a permanent vase placed there so there is always a place for flowers. I know you won’t ever read this but it makes me feel like I’m still in contact with you. You always be in my heart and in my thoughts I love Mom…
    Glenn
