Joe Elias Ruiz, 89, of Westfield, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 4, 2014 peacefully in his sleep. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, resided in Garden Grove, California, and hailed from Westfield in his elder years. He retired from Barr Lumber where he did carpentry work for many years.

Joe ‘Pop’ is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Ruiz, and his daughter, Tammy Choate. He is survived by his children: Brenda Dickison, Karen Meanor and husband Doug, James (Mike) Bailey, Cindy Moncrief, and Martin (Marty) Ruiz and wife Michelle; his grandchildren: Art Lee Dickison and wife Kristi, Marvin (Clicker) Dickison, Kelly-Jo Dickison McMains and husband Mike, Jeff Miller and his wife Val, Jeremy Miller, Joshua Bailey, Christina Bailey, Jerry Pettit and wife Lynn, Kris Pettit and wife Kathryn, Jenny Martinez and husband Steve, Donna Byrer, Allen Ruiz, Joseph Ruiz and Andrew Ruiz; and 30 great-grandchildren.

The entire family would like to extend a special thank you and an attitude of gratitude to Stacey Anderson-Goodman and Aleyda Bailey for loving and caring for Pop for the last three years.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 7, at 3pm at Joe’s residence.
