Joseph Edward Hirsch, 70, passed on March 17 2016 at his home in Fishers. Joe was born on July 5, 1945 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Ralph and LaVerne Hirsch.
He was a Vietnam Veteran of the US Navy and served on the USS Hancock.
Joe received the VICA Award in 1973, which led to his career in the automotive industry. During his career he worked in several local dealerships in the Indianapolis area – thirteen years of these spent as an Oldsmobile factory representative.
He was happily married to his beautiful bride, Susan Kay (Stoll) Hirsch for 40 years. He is also survived by his two children Jason (Lilly) Hirsch of Rochester, NY and Amanda Kay (Ryan) Nolting of Fishers; grandchildren, Evelyn, William, and Andrew Hirsch, and Gabriel and Madison Nolting; and one sister, three brothers, plus many nieces and nephews.
Joe enjoyed life. He had the biggest heart and could make anyone laugh. He loved spending time with all his family and friends. He enjoyed working on cars and going to the Indy 500. Joseph was involved in Boy Scouts since 1986, and was very proud to see his son, Jason, receive his Eagle Scout Award.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016 in the chapel at Holy Spirit at Geist Catholic Church, with a luncheon to follow. Donations may be made in Joe’s name to the American Institute for Cancer Research (www.aicr.org).
A private military service will be held in Cape Girardeau, MO at a later date.
