Jonathan Wesley Gibson was born December 25, 1952 to Frank Wesley Gibson and Mollie Pauline (Childress) Edwards in Indianapolis, Indiana. Both parents preceded him in death. He was the third of 8 children. His brother, Steven Wendell Gibson preceded him in death in 2011.

Jonathan graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1971. He retired from the Indiana State Office Building, House Democratic Staff in the Housekeeping Department in January 2018, after 12 years of service.

For those who knew him, he will be remembered for his love of basketball, football, bat mitten, and especially bowling. Jon was a sports enthusiast and loved all sports. Jon was an avid grill master and barbequed even in sub below weather. Jon’s favorite foods was chicken, eggs…eggs…eggs, banana pudding, and Kentucky oysters.

Jon departed this life on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the age of 65 years, 20 days old. Jon is survived by six siblings: Marcia Louise Taylor; Franklin LeVon Gibson, Sr.; Jeffrey Tyrone Gibson, Sr. (Phyllis); Dana Sherman Gibson, Sr; Janet Lee Holman (Kevin); and Joyce Ann McReynolds; Step-father, James Thomas Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends who loved him dearly.
