John F. Spickelmier, 64, Indianapolis, IN, passed away March 17, 2017.
Born January 22, 1953 to Carl F. “Tony” and Marcia M. Spickelmier. He is survived by one son, Jon C. Spickelmier; daughter-in-law, Janice Spickelmier; grandson, Joshua Spickelmier; sister, Leslie Spickelmier Ferris; brother, Matthew C. Spickelmier; 4 nephews; and his beloved dog “Sammy”.
John attended Culver Military Academy Summer Camp as a member of the Black Horse Troop and he graduated from North Central High School in 1971 where he was the silver medalist in pommel horse on North Central’s State Championship gymnastic team. He then attended Indiana University Bloomington, and was a member of the ATO Fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business.
John spent 40 years in the moving and relocations industry; 20 years with American Red Ball, and ended his career with A. Arnold movers.
John grew up an adventurous soul who loved nothing more than spending time at Lake Wawasee sailing his E-Scow, barefoot water skiing, fishing, turtle hunting and visiting numerous friends around “the lake”. When not at Wawasee, John could be found at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway participating in his passion of racing.
Later in life John dearly enjoyed the antics of his one and only grandson Joshua.
The family would like to thank the care staff at Community North Hospital.

I am so deeply sadend to hear about John. What a Great guy. I knew him only about 5 yrs while working with him at A. Arnold. We talked a lot about many things . I remember most about his stint in Cart racing. I have some models he built of indy,formula 1 cars and fighter jets he gave to me. I will treasure them forever. He also talked with me about faith in God. I know how much he enjoyed his time up at the lake. It was truly a pleasure and my honor to have known him. Rest in peace my brother. I love you John. 🙁

John was a working friend with A-Arnold. A day never went by that John didn’t make one of us laugh with a joke or a funny story. He will be missed but never forgotten.

What do I say, he was my friend. I introduced him to go-kart racing in the late 60’s and early 70’s. We traveled together doing just that. I remember his big flip at Mid-Ohio. Then we both were memebers with the UOP Shadow Can-Am racing team, we had such fun driving the semi truck full of million dollar race cars and driving the Condor, the racing team mobile home. Plus, John and I lived with the mechanics from UK, it was a wonderful time… RIP John my Friend.

Matt, Leslie and family
I was sorry to learn of John’s passing when Matt contacted me 2 weeks ago. From Fall Creek Little League through Eastwood and North Central and gymnastic meets and go-kart races and Wawasee I spent a lot of time while also hanging out with Matt and trying not to irritate Marcia too much. All my condolences at your loss. RIP, Sheets

To whom it may concern:
Subject: John’s Salvation or Plan for Heaven
John followed the teachings of Les Feldick (of Les Feldick Ministries). Many years ago, (to my great benefit) he shared this fact with me and ever since I have followed his teachings as well. Les referred to Believing as “Faith Plus Nothing”, a term that I often heard John say. I know that John Believed in Paul’s gospel and therefore felt his Salvation was assured.
Paul’s Gospel – 1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-4 (King James Version)
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
I hope this brings you comfort.
I loved John very much.
Sincerely,
Robert Ferris (John’s Brother-In-Law)
