Joanne Irene Taylor Carey died the way she lived, with beauty, grace and love, and on her terms. Joanne left this world on January 28, 2019, but her death, in no way defines her. Joanne was born to Ralph and Mary Taylor on Feb 8, 1961, the fourth child of six. She attended Holy Spirit Elementary School, Warren Central High School, and Indiana State University. After beginning her work life at the Marriott Hotel, Joanne then began a long and distinguished career at Delta Faucet. Joanne held many titles and became a Manager and a Lead Credit associate. Her hard work and kind spirit were recognized by her colleagues at Delta.
Joanne gave back by being a Big Sister, reading to the blind, and working with the St Vincent De Paul Society of Christ the King Church. Her life was forever changed for the better, when she met and married the man for whom she had waited so long.
Joanne is survived by the love of her life, Brian Carey. Joanne also leaves behind her stepsons, Peter Carey and Michael (Lauren) Carey. Joanne’s, siblings, who will forever miss her, are Joseph (Sharon) Taylor, Mary Helen (Joseph) Fischer, Thomas (Karen) Taylor, John (Lisa) Taylor, and Ralph (Gi Yun) Taylor. Surviving also are many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and loving friends.
Joanne loved and was loved, she cared and was cared for, she gave and received. Everyone has known a special someone that made their life better and the world brighter. Joanne is our beacon.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road; with holy rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 1 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Joanne will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the St. Vincent De Paul Society of Christ the King parish, or the Big Sisters of Greater Indianapolis.

Brian and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Joanne’s passing. Having had the chance to work with Joanne early in her Delta career was a blessing to me personally. We hadn’t worked closely in recent years, but I will always remember that she was always so welcoming, so friendly and so guided by her kind spirit. It was always evident in her actions and her support for what we needed to do. I’m sure your heart is aching today but trust that knowing she is now in a better place will help you and your Family make it through this difficult time. May Joanne rest in peace and may God’s Grace shine on her and her family.

As one of Joanne’s Carey sisters-in-law, I can truly say Joanne was not only a relative but a friend. She made all our family gatherings special in every way. You would walk into her home, and she was always interested in you and what was going on in your life. She and Brian visited our home in Peachtree City several years ago. I can truly say I didn’t want her to leave. We laughed, shared stories, but most importantly, just being with her brought an incredible amount of joy into my life. I miss her and know her kindness and loving spirit are irreplaceable.
